My Book Group is a lively group and we actually do talk for at least an hour about the book, before we move on to the gossip and chit chat that is an important part of any group. We have had some good reads and a few bad ones.

I Don't Know How She Does It: The Life of Kate Reddy, Working Mother by Allison Pearson
I have previously read this book, but enjoyed it so much brought it to the book club for another read. I LOVE this book. Perhaps because I feel it is such an accurate reflection of my life (without the travel) that I relate so much. Any mother that works feels like horrendous guilt, this book is a refreshing comical approach to the life of the working mother. I HIGHLY recommend.
MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA (An oldy but a goody) I enjoyed it - I did not love it, although it has gotten rave reviews from my friends. Set in pre second world war Japan, it explores the world of a geisha, and the customs surrounding her life. I did learn what a geisha actually is, and not what we would normally think. I was very surprised to find that it was written by a man, as there are private, sensitive moments in the book that really feel like they are coming from the mind of a woman and not a man. Worth reading.
