Prevention First Announces 2010 Gala Rumson Couple Being Honored
Ocean Township, N.J. February 18, 2010 – Prevention First announces that the date for their annual fundraising gala will be Friday, April 30 at The Avenue, Le Club in Pier Village, Long Branch. Titled “Come Together,” the event’s theme is two-fold and reflects how the greater Monmouth County organization has been committed to helping at-risk children live happier and healthier lives. “Come Together” is also a tribute to the iconic and legendary band, The Beatles, who have experienced renewed popularity this year due to the recent release of new, remastered compact disk versions of their albums. The Beatles are considered to be, collectively, one of the 20th century’s most important and influential groups of people. Prevention First Executive Director Mary Pat Angelini said, “In choosing this year’s theme, we attempted to capture what is truly unique about the philanthropy and goodwill of Monmouth County residents, and to do so in a way that is timely and entertaining. ‘Come Together’ is a message of bringing our talents and skills to those who need our assistance and experience most – our children.” The organization selected Rumson couple Bob and Carolynn Diakon as the evening’s honorees for their longstanding commitment to Prevention First and tireless efforts to assist in its mission to keep children healthy, safe and drug-free. Carolynn, a member of Prevention First’s board of directors, is the owner and founder of Resources Real Estate in Rumson. She joins her husband Bob, an executive of International Flavors and Fragrances, Inc. (IFF), with gratitude in being recognized with such distinction. “Come Together,” chaired by Tracy Brown of Locust and co-chaired by Diane Kazalski of Little Silver, will feature 1960’s tribute band Carnaby Street as the evening’s headline entertainment. There will also be a special appearance by No Joke, a local tween cover band whose members are brimming with talent and working on a set-list of Jersey Shore rock for the occasion. Dress for the event is 1960’s Mod-chic, and only 200 tickets will be sold. “Sponsors of the evening,” said Brown, “will receive VIP treatment in The Avenue club setting,” and the committee encourages all who are interested in attending to inquire or respond quickly, as the limited number of spaces will guarantee that the gala will be a sold-out and select event. Sponsorships and tickets are still available and can be reserved by visiting preventionfirst.net or by calling Michelle Cicalese at 917.608.4247.If you would like to be included on the mailing list for Prevention First events, please contact Jill Lauren Quaranta at 732.663.1800 ext. 242 or JQuaranta@PreventionFirst.netAbout Prevention First -- Prevention First is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency and Registered New Jersey Professional Development Provider, providing students, parents and professionals with research-based prevention education programs to help children successfully handle difficult everyday situations as well as extraordinary challenges such as violence and substance abuse.
